District 9 is excited to announce a Fall Bantam development camp for 2011-2012. This is a pilot project spearheaded by Minnesota Hockey Advanced Committee. It is an opportunity for District 9’s finest bantam hockey players to improve their skill level by practicing with the best players of District 9.
The camp will entail a six week session for a total of 18 hours of ice time. The camp will take place August 22nd – September 30th. Tryouts for the camp will take place August 18th, 2011.
The purpose of the camp will be strictly for development. Emphasis will be placed on skills and player development. There are no games scheduled with other teams or districts.
Players in District 9 that are bantam eligible for the 2011-12 season are eligible to try-out. If you intend to tryout please email Bob Haskins (rhaskins@us.ibm.com) the players name, association name, and the level of play during the 2010-11 season.
Tryouts: (Four Seasons Arena, Kasson, MN)
Ø Thursday August 18, 2011 @ 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Try-out fee will be $20.00 (Make check payable to District 9 Hockey)
You must register with USA Hockey prior to trying out. This will transfer over to your regular association registration for the 2011-12 season. You can register online at http://www.usahockey.com/ (click on players, then click “online registration”) and bring your receipt from the internet confirmation. You will not be able to skate until you are registered.
30+ skaters and 5+ goalies will be selected from the try-outs. Practice sessions have been scheduled each week starting the week of August 22nd and the schedule will be given to the players that are selected. There is a $295.00 fee (make checks payable to District 9) for any player that makes the team.
The toughest assignment the coaching staff has during the entire process is the player evaluation process. Selecting players is not a perfect science and there isn’t a perfect method that assures that we will always select the best players. We recognize that and we understand the disappointment of being passed over for another player. The best we can hope for is to give the selection process our fullest attention.
If you advance from the try-out process and make the development camp, congratulations. If you don’t, then we hope you will do what all athletes do: prepare, do all you can, and be ready the next time opportunity knocks!
Good luck and we are looking forward to working with you.
